Something for the boy!

I feel like I always make stuff for my little girl but neglect my son when it comes to making stuff. When I read freezer paper stencils I knew that I wanted to make something for my guy! I let him choose what he wanted on his shirt and he picked a Lego Star Wars Storm Trooper. Here is the final result.

I think he likes it!

From tank top to 2 dresses

My daughter and I found this women's tank top on clearance and she decided she wanted it.
It was quite long so I got it and decided I would make a dress for her out of it. At first I just altered the straps so that it would fit her but it was actually still pretty long. I ended up cutting the top off and taking some coordinating material from a shirt to make straps. This is the result.

Then, I used the top part that I cut off and one of my old tee shirts to make another dress.
I decided to add a ruffle to the bottom and a little flower. I may have put the flower too far over though. I am thinking about adding some more flowers to balance it out a little. But here is how it looks so far.

I'm back

So I have been on a little (okay a long) hiatus. And here is why.
My newest addition was born June 15 at 10:25pm. He weighed 8 pounds 14 ounces and was 21 inches long! It is hard to believe he is 2 months old already. Kid #1 started Kindergarten. Kid #2 will be starting preschool in a few weeks. Needless to say, I haven't had a lot of time for crafts. But I have finished a few projects so I am back to share. Stay tuned.....

Meanwhile, here are some more pictures of Kid #3.

Mommy shirt to little girl shirt

I was going through my closet and pulling out stuff to get rid of. There are several shirts in there that I honestly don't know how I ever wore them! This one was too short and tight for me. So I decided to make it into a shirt for my daughter.
Here is how it started out.

I cut the front and back apart and cut the sleeves off.

Then I figured out how big the neck opening needed to be and pinned the front and back together.
I used one of her shirts to decide how much to take in the sides and sewed it together, right sides together of course.

Then I put the sleeves back on and hemmed the bottom.

I haven't been able to get a picture of her in it yet but will post that as soon as I can get her to hold still long enough. ;-)

Finally...diaper bag is done

I started this diaper bag a few months ago and then got distracted with picture frames. I decided that I needed to go ahead and finish it if I wanted to be able to use it! This is the wonderful tutorial that I used. It was pretty easy except for sewing the vinyl. It didn't want to feed through my sewing machine and some parts were so bulky with multiple layers of fabric and vinyl. But I made it work! I am happy with the results and excited to use it. It has lots of pockets so I think it will be really useful. And the changing pad clutch that I made fits perfectly!

More frames.....

You may be tired of seeing my frames by now but here are some that I have done recently.
The first two were special orders but the other four are for sale. I can personalize them, too.

$5 Belt

My friend's 4 year old daughter is really tall and thin and always having problems keeping her pants up. She can't seem to find belts that work for her either. So, I came across this tutorial the other day and thought it was the perfect solution. She picked out some ribbon and I put it together for her. I used 7/8 inch ribbon instead of 1 1/2 inch since it is for a little girl. I thought that might be a little too thick.  I still need to get a picture of it on her but you get the idea.
